Vision Board Workshop - February 2020

In February W2W partnered with Coach Adrean Turner to offer a workshop to help us visualize our goals for the upcoming year. Vision boarding is a tool used to get your thoughts on paper and “see” where you want to go in the future. The group had a blast and enjoyed sharing their goals with each other!

Pretty, Just Pretty - De Mujer a Mujer February 2020

Erica Montalvo summoned her courage, and support system, to share her story of overcoming adversity with the group. Her message? You ARE pretty. You are perfect the way you are no matter what anyone tries to tell you.

Always Put Your Oxygen Mask on First: Taking Care of Ourselves - February 2020

Dr. Krista Schenkel broke our wellness into 4 parts and tackled each for us. There were so many wonderful tips to take home to better take care of ourselves. Self-care should be ongoing, not just occasional. And visit the doctor – get that check up!

The Berks Women’s History Alliance and League of Women Voters also attended with a table to spread the word about amazing events happening to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment!

Success & Transfer of Power in a Family Business - January 2020

Lily Oswald, CEO of Sorrelli Jewelry, shared the story of Sorrelli and her own story, including stepping away to pursue other passions and goals and then asked to come back to rebuild after a business decline.

Lily was candid about her growth as a woman in the corporate world, her passion for sustainability in corporate culture and her return to her family’s business. Many family businesses in the crowd had lots of questions!

Finding Your Voice & Navigating the Workplace - De Mujer a Mujer January 2020

In a world of labels, titles and expectations, who are you? What do you believe in? How do you see yourself, and your voice, in and out of the workplace? It is crucial to stop to think about these questions in order to a richer version ahead of your life professionally and personally.

Dayana Blandon, HR Manager of CarbonLite, gave us two scenarios of how her life potentially played out. Many negatives, many positives. Both of her stories were her life. Overcoming so many obstacles, and giving time to herself to find her voice and path, she was able to help others in the audience to share & shed their “labels” too.

Building Confidence & Selling Yourself - De Mujer a Mujer December 2019

Women in leadership at East Penn Alison Snyder, Personnel Assistant Vice President, and Brenda Rosado, Employee Relations, shared a workshop developed to build our confidence, brand ourselves, and sell our skill sets in our job roles. These ladies helped us to building our presence because it helps you to “show up” to the table in the right light. We learned steps you can take to better yourself, realize your potential and go for what you want and deserve!

Kathy Fox opened up for the first time about her experience finding that belief in herself. The audience was able to share in her emotions because we all deal with not feeling “good enough”. But we are!

Effectively Setting Goals You Actually Reach - December 2019

This fun & interactive session helped get our goals out of our heads and make them happen by using a simple step-by-step approach that is manageable and doable. Great interaction and discussion with Sharon Mast, Owner & Consultant – Spark Solutions & Support.

Cultural Awareness in the Workplace - De Mujer a Mujer November 2019

Within our De Mujer a Mujer Committee, we discuss issues that arise in the workplace for women (and men) of different cultural backgrounds. We heard from committee members Amanda Hand, Lead Marketer – Chester Perfetto Agency, and Raquel Lopez, Human Resource Generalist – Berkshire Systems Inc., on the very important topic of being aware of our cultural differences in the workplace, what it all means, terminology, and how to move forward dealing with past trauma.

"All About Women" Founders: Stepping Up & Stepping Out - November 2019

The founders of Tower Health Medical Group’s All About Women, an OB/GYN practice consisting entirely of all female providers and office staff who are dedicated to serving the women of Berks County joined us and shared their experiences as women in the medical field (a highly male dominated field) and the struggles they had to overcome.

Doctors Kristine Leaman, Holly Metzgar, Jaylaine Ghoubrial, Christina DeAngelis, and Melissa DuBois shared their experiences in stepping up and stepping out to found and grow All About Women while also succeeding in their personal lives.
