Past Sponsor Spotlights
Alvernia University - Platinum Sponsor
Alvernia University’s partnership with Women2Women exemplifies the long-standing commitment we have had to the advancement and perseverance of women. In 2018, Alvernia celebrated its 60th Anniversary, and in the span of more than a half a century, what started in 1958 by the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters as a small women’s college, has become a regionally and nationally recognized comprehensive, competitive, multi-campus university.
Alvernia established its first Women’s Council (AWC) in 2018 to meet the demand for women’s advocacy, development, and empowerment at the University. Annually, the AWC hosts a signature Fall Luncheon, an all-female mentorship program, on-campus student programs focused on personal and professional development, and cultivation events meant to inspire and strengthen the engagement of AWC members to each other and the University.
Partnership with the Women2Women program not only brings immense benefit to our employees and students, but to W2W members as well. Any member of W2W is eligible to receive discounted tuition at the University. Throughout the year, sponsorship benefits allow Alvernia women to experience W2W programs as well as creating opportunities for students to attend events. This partnership not only creates a pathway for the next generation of female leaders but provides current leaders with the confidence and tools to thrive.
Additionally, through an incredible partnership with the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation, Alvernia is able to offer scholarships for returning or second-career women who are seldom able to qualify for financial aid. Since establishing the fund in 2016, more than 20 female students have been awarded scholarships creating pathways to graduation that were previously closed.
Alvernia women take pride in the number of women in senior leadership positions, the supportive environment provided for a healthy work-life balance, and the commitment to the advancement of women.
Penn State Health St Joseph - Title Sponsor
Penn State Health St. Joseph has always been intentional in our support of women both within our organization and throughout the community. One of the more visible signs of this support is our women’s health program.
Recognizing that women’s bodies differ from men’s in many subtle ways, we have made specialized care for women’s health issues a priority. In addition to hiring a urogynecologist, who specializes in treating all conditions of the female urinary and reproductive tract, we staff a rheumatologist, who treats the high proportion of women who have rheumatoid arthritis.
St. Joseph also continues to make it easier for women to access our services. If you’re a woman over 40 or you have a family history of breast cancer, a yearly screening mammogram is one of the most important things you can do to take care of yourself. Early detection gives you the best chance of beating breast cancer. St. Joseph has helped by introducing the only no-referral-needed mammography service in Berks County. Women now can walk into our Exeter Ridge or Bern campus locations and get a screening mammogram without a referral or appointment.
Our obstetrics providers, certified nurse midwives and pediatricians offer care close to home through several locations in Berks County, including our Exeter Ridge practice, which recently began offering obstetric and gynecologic care. That strong focus on mother and child health care, along with the implementation of the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, led to Baby-Friendly USA designating St. Joseph as a Baby-Friendly Hospital.
